Our client, the Care Home in Hampshire UK, is urgently looking to recruit a Senior Carer, 3 years experience as a nurse in Poland is highly important, communication skills and an interest in care work is most critical. This role will require good English written and spoken skills with a bright motivated and enthusiastic personality.

This Senior Carer position features attractive salary, accommodation in a large house next door to the Care Home, the applicant will have a single room. The house has a telephone which gives free calls to Polish land lines.

 

Requirements:

  • To be responsible for running shifts, control and discipline of staff on shift, and allocation of duties.
  • To live in Company designated property, to be on call as reasonably required, and no more than 15 minutes away from Home when on call. To be contactable by phone at all times during on- call period.
  • To have attained level 3 NVQ or equivalent, attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Company, and wherever possible, to attend all non-mandatory sessions.
  • To maintain all relevant qualifications as required by the Company, including  but not limited to Food Handling, Manual Handling and First Aid.
  • To help serve food, assisting clients with eating and drinking as required. To prepare light meals and snacks if required, liasing with kitchen staff as necessary. To prepare or assist to prepare meals in the absence of the Cook.
  • To ensure that appropriate individual care is given to each client, in accordance with the Care Plans, and that accurate documentation of client's conditions and events are maintained in the correct files, and all relevant information passed onto the next shift.
  • To ensure good communication with members of the medical teams and the general public. To maintain a welcoming and friendly manner to all who enter Derriford House, being mindful of the need for security at all times. To be aware of divulging information regarding a client to a third party.
  • To ensure adequate staffing levels throughout the day and night, ensuring short term sickness and absences are covered to meet the required standards.
  • To ensure the daily tasks of general and personal care are delegated in a professional and fair manner ensuring that staff are competent to their tasks.
  • To help with the organisation of social activities, and to participate in them to help promote clients' physical and mental well being. To accompany clients on community visits where required and as duty rotas permit.
  • To monitor clients' nutritional and dietary requirements, and to assist if necessary with the setting up of trays and dining room.
  • To clean up any bodily/medical waste from Residents and to assist with general housekeeping duties if required.
  • To help clear up the dining room after meals, ensuring all dirty cutlery, crockery and utensils are returned to the kitchen, making use of this task to monitor who is or is not eating, and reporting this to the Manager.
  • To help make and change beds, and assist with light domestic duties such as tidying rooms, and emptying commodes as may be required, noting anything untoward and reporting this to the Manager.
  • To care for clients who may be temporarily sick or needing special care procedures.
  • To ensure the appropriate levels of personal hygiene, comfort, dignity, privacy and fulfilment for each client.
  • To assist Manager in the administration, control and storage of drugs and medicines. To monitor drug refrigerator temperatures in accordance with BS EN ISO 9002 requirements, and report any adverse temperature variances that may affect the efficacy of medication stored within to the Manager. To note any variances within the prescribed drug regime and act to rectify this.
  • To assist where necessary visits by Doctors and other paramedical teams to ensure good care practices and communication, so as to enable correct instructions to be carried out by all relevant staff. To ensure collection of any prescriptions which may have been written and that the client receives medication as soon as possible.
  • To help maintain a safe and healthy environment in the Home with due regard to appropriate Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Regulations, ensuring that any non-compliance is noted verbally to the next shift and in writing to the appropriate person. To report all accidents to Manager.
  • To read and write reports, and to participate in staff and clients' meetings as appropriate.
  • To participate in training activities / courses, as directed by the Manager and Director of Training. To instruct care assistants where necessary on specific techniques which have been requested.
  • To help care for clients who are terminally ill under the supervision of, and agreement with the medical team.
  • To work additional shifts as reasonably required by the Company, and subject to transport to occasionally work at The Company's other locations.
  • To undertake various other duties as and when required.
